Indian opener shares a neatly choreographed video on social media alongside teammates

Dubai: Indian star opener and World Cup champion Smriti Mandhana has officially announced her engagement, putting an end to weeks of speculation with a light-hearted Instagram reel.
Mandhana, 29, a key member of India’s World Cup — winning squad, shared a neatly choreographed video on social media alongside teammates Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil and Arundhati Reddy. The reel, posted on Thursday, quickly took over the internet.
In the video, the group performs a fun, coordinated act to the song “Samjho Ho Hi Gaya” from Lage Raho Munna Bhai. The playful sequence concludes with Mandhana flashing her engagement ring to the camera — her first public confirmation of the news.
Fans and fellow cricketers flooded the comments section, calling it “the cutest thing on the internet today” and sharing their excitement.
The announcement follows subtle hints from her fiance, music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal. Speaking at an event in Indore last month, he had teased, “She will soon become the daughter-in-law of Indore … that’s all I want to say,” as reported by India Today.
Mandhana recently played a pivotal role in India Women’s historic first ICC title, a 52-run victory over South Africa in the ODI World Cup final. As vice-captain, she finished as India’s top scorer with 434 runs in nine matches, averaging over 54.
Her standout performance came in a must-win group match against New Zealand, where she hammered 109 off 95 balls, including 10 fours and 4 sixes. In the final, she added a crucial 45, putting on a 104-run opening stand with Shafali Verma to set up India’s commanding total.
