Dubai: Indian cricket’s teenage batting prodigy, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, has not only dazzled fans back home but also earned admiration from opponents across the tournament. As India A gears up to face Oman today, Oman players Aryan Bisht and Samay Shrivastava admitted they are still in awe of the youngster’s ability to launch the ball effortlessly out of the park. Both said they are thrilled to finally get the chance to play against him.

Vaibhav has been in sensational form throughout the competition. He kicked off with a record-shattering 144 against the UAE, followed by a composed 45 against Pakistan Shaheens. While India A opened their campaign with a victory before suffering a heavy loss to Pakistan, Vaibhav’s fearless stroke play remains the highlight of the tournament.

Speaking to The Times of India, Oman batter Aryan Bisht said he was stunned by the sheer power the teenager generates at such a young age. He added that after watching Vaibhav on television for the past year, he is excited to finally meet him in person. Vaibhav became a national sensation earlier this year when he debuted for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, smashing the second-fastest century in league history in only his third match.

“We’ve only seen Vaibhav Suryavanshi on TV, and now we’ll actually be playing against him. When you’re 14 and can hit the ball that far, that’s exceptional talent. Not everyone can do that — I definitely couldn’t at that age. ‘14 saal ke ho, kaise maarte ho ye chakke?’ How are you hitting such huge sixes at 14? He’s incredibly talented, and I’m really looking forward to facing him,” Aryan told TOI.

Teammate Samay Shrivastava shared the admiration. “It’s a great opportunity to meet him. I want to understand his mindset — he’s only 14 and already achieving so much for himself and for India. The way he hits those massive sixes is extraordinary. I really want to meet him and talk to him,” he said.

Even before this tournament, Suryavanshi was making headlines with the India U-19 team in England and Australia, including a blistering fastest-ever Youth ODI century against England U19. Recently appointed vice-captain of the Bihar Ranji Trophy team, his meteoric rise across formats underscores the extraordinary talent he possesses at just 14.
