Chocolate cake recipe from Swissotel

Dubai: Ah, chocolate. Do you know what's the best way to check the quality of good chocolate? The sound of a clean, crisp, sharp snap when broken will give you the right answer. For the longest time, chocolate has remained a favourite for many all over the world and is also one of the biggest industries worth $100 billion dollars, as reported by insider.com in 2019.

While the love for chocolate continues to grow, here's a guide to making a decadent gluten-free Swissôtel's Lindt chocolate cake at home.

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Baking time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

Lindt chocolate, egg yolk, white sugar, lemon-almond-hazelnut flour, egg white, salt and unsalted butter

Method:

Step 1: In a bowl, add egg yolk and whisk it to a medium consistency using a hand mixer.

Step 3: Add the melted chocolate to the mix and whisk it all together as you go, so as to avoid lumps in the batter.

Step 5: Continue mixing it till the mix forms a thick batter. Once mixed, keep it aside.

Step 6: To make the meringue, add the egg whites and sugar in a separate bowl. Whisk well as you go.

Step 7: Once stiff peaks, keep it aside.

Step 8: Add a pinch of salt to the batter and fold well.

Step 9: Next, add the meringue and mix it altogether till you get a batter with medium consistency.

Step 10: Bake in a preheated over of 170C for 40 to 45 minutes and allow it to cool for 10 minutes before decorating it.

Step 11: For the decoration, add a spoonful of melted Lindt milk chocolate and spread it across thinly and evenly on a marble slab by using a steel spatula. Once the chocolate sets, use a metal scraper and roll the chocolate by applying pressure on it.
