The trailer for Maareesan, an upcoming comedy-drama starring Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil, was released online on Monday, offering a first look at the film’s offbeat plot and quirky characters. Directed by Sudeesh Shankar, the film is set for a theatrical release on July 25.
The trailer opens with Fahadh Faasil’s character delivering a monologue about his unusual philosophy on theft. His path soon crosses with Vadivelu’s character, who is portrayed as an elderly man battling Alzheimer’s. What follows is a chaotic journey marked by unpredictable situations and a sense of looming consequence.
Kovai Sarala appears in a comedic yet authoritative turn as a police officer hot on the trail of the central duo. The supporting cast includes Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, PL Thenappan, Livingston, Renuka, Saravana Subbiah, Krishna, Haritha, and Telephone Raja.
Maareesan is produced by RB Choudary under the Super Good Films banner. V. Krishna Moorthy, who also serves as creative producer, has written the film’s story, screenplay, and dialogue.
Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music, with lyrics penned by Madhan Karky and Sabarivasan Shanmugam. Behind the scenes, the film features Kalaiselvan Sivaji as the cinematographer, Sreejith Sarang as the editor, Mahendran handling production design, and Pheonix Prabu choreographing the stunts.
With a mix of slapstick humour, emotional undertones, and an intriguing premise, Maareesan promises a refreshing blend of comedy and drama anchored by two powerhouse performers.
