Dubai: Want to make sure that the food items you purchase meet all the safety standards set by the UAE? You can do so by simply scanning the product barcode on the Dubai Municipality’s smartphone application.

In a post on their official social media channels, the municipality informed users of how it offers a new service that allows Dubai’s citizens and residents to verify the safety of registered food products in the Municipality's database before purchasing them.

To use the service, simply follow these steps:

1. Download the ‘Dubai Municipality’ app, which is available for Apple and Android devices.

The municipality also allows users to check the health and safety rating of other consumer products, like shampoos, soaps and creams through the ‘Montaji’ service on the app. You can also find out the rating of a food establishment like a restaurant, a catering company or a hotel by selecting the ‘Food establishment Inquiry’ service and providing the name and location of the establishment.
