Dubai: If you are on a visit to the UAE and have found a job offer that you wish to take up, you would need to submit certain documents to your new employer’s human resources (HR) department in order for them to apply for your work permit and visa.

Passport

Your passport should be valid for at least six months in order for a UAE visa to be issued. It is also advisable to keep a couple of copies of your passport’s front and back page, in case they need to be submitted at any point during the application process.

Passport-sized photograph

You would also need to submit a passport-sized photograph, with a white background to your company’s HR department. As all applications can now be completed online, you would - normally - only require a soft copy. However, it may also help to have a few photographs handy, in case your HR department requests for it.

Attested university degrees or professional certificates

If you hold a degree from outside the UAE, you must get it certified from the UAE Embassy or consulate in your country and also from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of your home country.

Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has assigned skill levels of jobs in the UAE on a five-point basis. Jobs that need a skill of level 1 are for highly skilled workers and those that need a skill of level 5, are for lower skilled workers.

If you are applying for a job under skill level 1, 2, or 3, you would need to submit your academic certificates duly attested in order to get a work permit from MOHRE.
