Dubai: As 2021 draws to a close, UAE residents are looking forward to the last long weekend of the year. With the UAE Commemoration Day on December 1 falling on a Wednesday, and the UAE National Day holiday (on December 2 and December 3) on Thursday and Friday, you can expect a four-day long weekend, if you also have a weekly off on Saturdays. The long weekend can be spent barbecuing or stargazing with family and friends, but if you want to check out four of the latest attractions in the UAE over the four days, here are the activities you can plan.

Visit Expo 2020

Expo 2020 Dubai has a Golden Jubilee @ Expo even planned, with site-wide celebrations until December 4, 2021, which will showcase the UAE’s journey over the last 50 years, while also looking towards the next 50.

There are special programmes scheduled including stage shows with Rashid and Latifa, the Expo 2020 mascots, as well as musical nights and shows for the entire family. Catch all the updates from Expo 2020 here.

Visit Ain Dubai

The latest attraction to open up in Dubai is the world’s largest observation wheel – Ain Dubai. Located in Dubai Marina’s Bluewaters Island, the observation wheel begins operations from 12pm every day, with ticket prices starting from Dh130 per person.

New park in Sharjah

After two new parks opened up in Sharjah in March this year another family friendly location was opened up in Muweilah, Sharjah in October in the Al Nouf 2 area, spanning 71,000 square metres, with 3,000 flowers and 950 trees.

Global Village

Global Village, too, opens up today for its 26th season with several new upgrades, including a new Iraq Pavilion, a Peter Rabbit Adventure Zone, a fire fountain show and a water stunt show. Buying tickets online can help you get a 25 per cent discount, with tickets priced at Dh15. If you buy tickets at the gate, you will have to pay Dh20 per person.
