Cloud Bread recipe
Although the ingredient list is simple and basic, the preparation of this bread can be intricate. Making bread can be disappointing if not done correctly, but the recipe is quite easy. Just make sure to follow each step accurately to achieve the desired result.
Preparation time - 20 minutes
Baking time - 30 minutes
Serves - 2
Ingredients
2 egg whites (room temperature)
20 gms of super-fine sugar
7 gms cornstarch
Vanilla extract (optional)
Food colouring (optional)
Method
Preheat the oven to 150°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks. Use an electric beater to whisk the egg whites until they begin to foam.
Add the sugar in three parts to the egg whites while continuously beating the eggs. The egg whites will now start to look glossy and quickly form soft peaks.
Finally, add the corn flour and continue whisking the mixture until it starts forming stiff peaks.
Scoop the egg whites on the lined tray and form a bun-like shape. Make sure to even it out from all sides.
Bake for 30 minutes and serve immediately.
Tips and tricks
The egg whites need to be at stiff peaks before you place them on the baking tray. To ensure this, the bowl and whisk need to be perfectly clean. Any foreign particle, oil, water, or even egg yolks will not let the egg whites foam.
Make sure your oven is set at the right temperature. If it's too hot, the bread won’t be of the right consistency.
Do not overbake; otherwise, it might lose its shape.
You may add food colouring to make it look more vibrant and pretty.
Cloud breads are easily customisable with the help of various essence or flavourings.
