Dhaka: Former prime minister Shaikh Hasina arrived in Bangladesh on Monday after the government lifted a ban on her return.
Hasina faces charges of corruption and murder involving the deaths of four protesters during a riot in October at a demonstration by her Awami League party.
Hasina dismissed the charges as "farcical" and said she would face them in court.
Asked if she feared arrest, Hasina said the authorities "made a mistake in imposing the ban on my return. I don't think they are going to repeat that mistake."
The Bangladesh government blacklisted her in April 18 but the ban was lifted 7 days later.
"It's my country, it's my home. I'm so excited to be able to return to my country," Hasina told reporters at Dhaka's Zia International Airport after arriving from London.
