Manila: Presidential candidate Senator Manuel "Manny" Villar came out with a campaign song that became an anthem for everyone, but alas, no other campaign song has undergone as much alteration by critics and detractors.

Here's the lyrics of Villar's lilting campaign song, which was sung and recorded by young children: Have you ever swam on a sea of garbage?/Have you spent Christmas in the middle of the road? That's our question/ Are you one of us? Do you know that he can send you to school; that he can help us land a job; that his plan is a house for everyone?

Even Baby James, the son of famous TV host Kris Aquino, blurted out "Villar" like a campaign song when a microphone was thrust in front of him during a campaign sortie for Villar's rival, Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino of the Liberal Party.

Not for long. Villar's campaign song was dissected and became propaganda against him. The new campaign song was entitled, Villar's True Song and railed against him, his money and political wrangling.

In reaction to Villar's song and its alteration, which landed on YouTube, a commentator, Tacttac75 said that Villar and Aquino have both left issues "unanswered".

"What the country needs is a firm leader who will actually go down to the grassroots level to help out not these so called Trapos [traditional politicians] who only come out during election period," said Tacttac, who admitted he is voting for presidential candidate Senator Richard Gordon.
