1992 Saeed Juma Al Naboodah, President of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, reopened the 23-year old Egyptian Trade Centre in Dubai after it was completely renovated to convey a more dynamic image of Egyptian products in the UAE. “The move will enhance Egypt’s share in local markets,” Naboodah said. He felt that Egypt, the only Arab country with strong presence in UAE’s trade, should have a larger percentage of local markets. Naboodah said Egyptian products, mainly in traditional items and garments, could stand up to international standards. However, he urged Egyptian businessmen to pursue a more aggressive strategy in promoting their products here. Fakhri Osman, the Egyptian Ambassador to the UAE, who accompanied The DCCI president in inaugurating the event, said the reopening of the trade centre “will make a good start for us here.” Around 20 Egyptian companies are exhibiting their products at the centre, ranging from furniture and household items to medical equipment.
