People often say that technology is the best thing that happened to humanity, and in some aspects, it is, but mostly it isn’t. How many times have you been at a gathering, and all you see around you are people occupied by their phones? How many times have you walked past a group of people without noticing one or several of them holding a phone? It is impossible to escape the fact that technology has taken over us.

There are inventions and devices that can attend to all of your needs, and frankly, we no longer have to depend on the help of a family member or a friend. I am not denouncing the advancement of our world and where societies have reached, but are all of these inventions actually necessary? Day by day, we are moving further and further away from each other, not to become independent, but to become dependent on technology and the various apps and devices out there that can help us out in various situations.

With this in mind, our face-to-face interactions are becoming limited as we now depend on a device or an app to connect us to each other. With the rise of social media, we no longer need to meet and greet each other, we can just continue sitting in our comfort zone and make contacts with people. If there is a friend or family member’s birthday, we don’t need to go over to their house to share their joy, instead, we can just click on a website or on an app and send them flowers or a card. If we continue like this, what would differentiate us from robots?
