Arab Fashion Week comes to an end with the Day 3 calendar showcasing local and international talent and a closing show by UAE-based Amato.
With eco-consciousness on mind, Emergency Room kicked off the day’s proceedings, with the bold label founded by designer Eric Mathieu Ritter to shake up established fashion norms. Emergency Room uses local plant-based dye methods from Lebanon to infuse its forward-looking creations with a touch of tradition.
A completely fresh look was then showcased by Lazoschmidl, presented by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, the French body that coordinates Paris Fashion Week. An ethos of the 2000s pop band culture provides the theme for designer Josef Lazo and Artistic Director Andreas Schmidl for their youthful and nostalgic line-up featuring bright tones and crushed velvet.
Franco-Spanish label Arturo Obegero was another highlight of Day 3 at Arab Fashion Week, with subdued and sensual creations inspired by the founder’s Spanish rural roots and the world of dance. The monochrome tones feature just an occasional dash of lilac or white, in what was only Obegero’s third fashion show to date, and his sophisticated collection very much impressed the visitors at Dubai Design District.
With its highly sophisticated and classical menswear line, Amato was the final design label to present its collection at Arab Fashion Week. Embroidery features heavily in designer Furne One’s creations, highlighted by soft lines, light creamy tones and white blouses.
Amato closed the festival with a Holi explosion of colours, which followed the collection presented in bright hues like royal blue, marigold orange and fuchsia. The Filipino designer used his festival-going experiences in India as inspiration for his line of clothes fit for a modern maharajah. “I was so inspired by the colours… deep reds, beautiful blues and it was all very festive,” said One.
