Abu Dhabi: A full agenda of events will be launched by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development on the occasion of UAE Flag Day, it was announced on Tuesday.
An agenda, adopted by Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, will see a large number of activities, programmes and events held over the course of five days between November 3 and 7, giving everyone an opportunity to express their feelings for the UAE flag, which is considered a symbol of dignity and national affiliation.
The entire community has been invited to take part in the celebrations for Flag Day this year under the slogan ‘Raise it High… Raise it Proud’ which will include a flag walkathon, operetta, radio contests, flag city, ‘Raise it high’ campaign, and social media competitions, in addition to a number of other events in the ministry and shopping malls.
Shaikh Nahyan said that the ‘Raise it High’ initiative opens the door to the participation of everyone of all ages and languages to express their pride in the flag and establish its value. This initiative will also be a tool to express pride in the UAE and an opportunity to express love for the homeland and loyalty to the wise leadership.
The activities will start with the Flag Walkathon with participation of more than 2,000 people from all segments of society starting from Al Jazira Club in Abu Dhabi to the National Theatre. Shaikh Nahyan will then hoist the UAE flag with those participating in the Flag Walkathon.
He will then tour an exhibition of creations by UAE children and Emirates artists. The Flag operetta will be performed by Emirati singers and the Flag Songs album will be distributed to all institutions and clubs. The Flag city in Abu Dhabi and Dubai will have a large number of events, including a daily cultural contest.
The ministry will also launch competitions on social media websites and a radio competition over radio stations about the UAE flag, rulers and history.
The ministry said they are also focusing on delivering its cultural and national message to everyone through the press, radio, TV and social media through competitions, programmes and initiatives.
Shaikh Nayhan said that the UAE leadership is keen to ensure that these cherished national events become an opportunity to highlight the national spirit, support values of loyalty and belonging, promote community cohesion and national pride in the country and its flag.
He added that the celebration of Flag Day this year revolves around the fact that we all live under the flag of the UAE enjoying security, safety, prosperity and stability, allowing us to shape the future and support the comprehensive development under the wise leadership.
He also stressed that the agenda of the ministry this year is new in all its details, and aims to ensure audience active participation in all programmes, whether in cultural centres or malls in Abu Dhabi and Dubai or through social media.
He called on the entire community to take part in the flag celebrations.
