Esha Deol talks of her experience with the paranormal and her role as a ghost in the movie Darling.
How was it playing a ghost in Darling?
It was very challenging as it's not the same as playing a normal person.
Are you afraid of ghosts?
Very much. My family moved into a new bungalow while I was shooting for Darling. It gave me the creeps every time I returned to this bungalow during the night. So much so that I used to look over my shoulder to check if I was being followed by a ghost.
Then why did you choose to work in this scary movie?
I liked the role. Also, it was my dream to work with Ram Gopal Varma.
Have you ever encountered a ghost?
Yes I have. It was in Kerala during the shooting of Chura Liya Hai Tumne. One night, I felt someone trying to strangle me when I was asleep. I was so afraid that I immediately decided to change the hotel.
Tell us something about the movie.
Darling is a fast-paced thriller. I play a girl who has an affair with her married boss, gets pregnant and dies. I return to haunt him as a ghost.
What would be your dream role?
I want to play a dancer. In fact I've asked my mother to make a movie on dancing.
What do you love most?
My first love is my dog. Her name is Darling. I take her wherever I go, even to shoots. But I also have a passion for shoes. I've a special place for them in my wardrobe.
