The Middle East’s art and design scene is about to be revolutionized with the debut of Editions, a groundbreaking fair dedicated to limited edition works. Running from November 6 to 9, 2024, at Dubai Design District (d3), this inaugural event is set to be a highlight of Dubai Design Week and will showcase a curated selection of regional and international artists, designers, and galleries.

Editions is the first event of its kind in the region, offering audiences the unique opportunity to explore and purchase high-quality, limited edition art and design pieces. With exhibitors from the UAE, Lebanon, Kuwait, Jordan, and a strong international presence from countries such as Germany, Colombia, Italy, Lithuania, and France, the fair promises to attract both seasoned collectors and newcomers alike.

The fair aims to bridge the worlds of Art Dubai and Downtown Design, two of the city's most prominent cultural events, by bringing together works that represent the highest standards of creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation. From ceramics and custom sculptural works to limited edition prints and photography, Editions covers a wide range of mediums and artistic practices.

Mette Degn-Christensen, Director of Downtown Design, highlighted the growing appetite for unique, limited edition pieces in the region. “As art and design continue to grow within Dubai’s cultural landscape, Editions offers a new platform where visitors can connect with independent designers and discover works that are otherwise inaccessible in the Middle East," she said.

Dubai Design District’s (d3) Senior Vice President, Khadija Al Bastaki, emphasized how Editions aligns with Dubai's broader creative economy goals. “Dubai’s maturing art scene is opening up to the public more than ever before. This fair allows individuals to be more active patrons and offers emerging talents a credible platform to expand their reach," she noted.

One of the highlights of the fair is the Contemporary Design section, featuring works that combine form, function, and high-quality craftsmanship. Celebrated Emirati designer Aljoud Lootah will debut new works in celebration of her studio’s 10th anniversary. Other notable exhibits include Atelier Alain Ellouz's alabaster lighting creations and Blooker Gallery’s minimalist industrial furniture pieces.

The Ceramics collection will showcase artists pushing boundaries with stoneware and porcelain works. SANATORIUM presents Çağla Köseoğulları’s folding clay series, while Hestia Gallery introduces Roxane Lahidji, who crafts luxury objects from sustainable materials like salt.

In the realm of Works on Paper, galleries such as Comptoir Des Mines Galerie and Rarares Gallery bring a variety of techniques, from watercolor to collage, reflecting the intersection of human experience and nature. Prints will also take center stage, with screenprints by Iraqi artist Dia Azzawi and British artist Nat Bowen’s vibrant resin works in limited edition.

Photography enthusiasts can look forward to exhibits from Gulf Photo Plus and Leila Heller Gallery, featuring works that explore cultural heritage and contemporary social landscapes, such as Hussain AlMoosawi’s UAE architectural portraits and Shirin Neshat’s iconic Tooba series.

Alongside the art fair, Editions will host The Forum, a series of talks featuring industry leaders and experts discussing trends, the value of editioned works, and the role of art and design in community identity. These conversations are designed to educate and inspire both novice and experienced collectors.

With tickets priced at Dh50 for a single day and Dh80 for a three-day pass (including access to Downtown Design), Editions provides an inclusive space for art enthusiasts and collectors to discover and invest in unique works.
