Have you seen a change in your network name recently? UAE residents reported seeing ‘Expo 2020’ floating on their phone screens.

As we get closer to the beginning of Expo 2020 Dubai, UAE residents were reminded of how close we are to the start of The World's Greatest Show, with a change on their phone home screens. Network providers Etisalat and Du made the change as excitement builds around the mega event.

Previously, UAE phone networks have marked important events in a similar way. For instance, the launch of the country's historic Hope Probe in February and the UAE President's Cup 2021 in May, which was the first official event to allow vaccine recipients and its clinical trials participants to attend exclusively.

Recently, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took a bike tour of Expo 2020 Dubai site.

Adding to the anticipation of the mega event, Sheikh Mohammed wrote in a tweet on September 1: “We promise people from all over the world an unprecedented Expo. The 6 months of the event will go down in history for the ideas and inventions that will benefit humanity for years to come.”

On the same day, he tweeted about reviewing the final preparations for the event.

“Our teams are ready and pavilions are complete for the world’s largest event since the outset of pandemic. The UAE is looking forward to welcoming people from 191 countries,” he wrote.
