Abu Dhabi: The average prices of 15 groups of building materials dropped in November 2015 compared with November 2014, with the decline ranging between 0.4 per cent for the Transport Equipment category and 23 per cent for the Steel category.

According to the latest report from the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi (Scad), diesel prices tumbled by 20.4 per cent in November this year compared to the same month last year, as the price of power cables declined by 15.9 per cent in the same period.

The average wages of construction labour advanced, however, 18.3 per cent in November 2015 over November 2014.

The Tiles and Marble group increased by 9.4 per cent during the month over November 2014.

Meanwhile, Scad reported varying changes in the average prices of building materials in November 2015 compared with October 2015, with increases ranging between 0.7 per cent for False Ceilings category and 3.8 per cent for bathroom sets without accessories.

Decreases ranged between 1.1 per cent for diesel and four per cent for power cables in November when compared to October 2015.

Scad also reported a 1.6 per cent increase in the average wages of construction labour in the same period, and a 1.4 per cent increase in the average prices of steel.

The average prices of power cables fell by four per cent in November 2015 compared with October 2015, as the average prices of the Paints category decreased by 3.9 per cent in the same period.
