Saudis in private sector rise to nearly 23% in Q1

Eastern province ranks first with 25.7%, followed by Riyadh with 24.5%

Abu Dhabi: Saudi citizens accounted for 22.75 per cent of the total private sector workforce in the first quarter of this year, compared to 20.37 per cent in the same quarter of 2020, according to the National Labour Observatory of the Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf).

Previously, the number of Saudis in the private sector reached 20.21 per cent in 2019, 18.61 per cent in 2018, and 16.46 per cent in 2017.

The Observatory said that the number of Saudi subscribers of the General Organisation for Social Insurance (GOSI) from the private sector reached more than 1.8 million in the first quarter, made up of 62.8 per cent men and 37.2 per cent women.

The Eastern Province ranked first in the Saudisation of jobs in the private sector with a rate of 25.7 per cent, followed by Riyadh region with 24.5 per cent, Mecca region 21.4 per cent, Madinah 19.3 per cent and Asir 17.50 per cent.
