Abu Dhabi: Saudi security officers have thwarted an attempt by drug peddlers to bring around 2.7 million amphetamine pills into the Kingdom, police said.

“The contraband found hidden inside the roof of a truck trailer was seized in cooperation with the Jeddah Customs officers,” spokesperson for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, Captain Mohamed Al Najidi, said.

Al Najidi added the suspects, Syrian and Sudanese residents and an illegal immigrant, were taken into custody, pending moving to the Public Prosecution for trial.
