Saudi police bust power cable theft gang in Riyadh

All of the five suspects are of Arab origins

Dubai: Saudi Police arrested a five-member gang for stealing electric cables from power distribution stations and various sites under construction in Riyadh.

The five Arab suspects were allegedly involved in 55 cases of robbery of copper cables and electric circuit breakers from different power plants and buildings under construction in the Saudi capital, said Colonel Shaker Al Tuwaijri, the media spokesperson for the Riyadh Police.

The suspects were remanded to police custody pending referral to the Public Prosecution for investigation and trial.
