Saudi man receives SR5 million offer to loan camel
Offer on Twitter made by unidentified person who hopes to keep camel for a season
Cairo: A prominent Saudi camel owner has said he received an offer to loan a camel in return for SR5 million for one season in an uncommon deal in the kingdom.
Chairman of the Saudi Camel Club Fahd Bin Hithleen disclosed the offer on Twitter, saying it is related to his camel named Rakan.
The offer was made by an unidentified camel owner who wants Rakan to mate with the camel he owns. Bin Hithleen did not reveal his response to the offer, asking for his followers’ feedback.
Multi-million deals involving camel sales are familiar in Saudi Arabia. However, loan-for-cash transactions are not common.
Camels are closely linked to Saudi Arabia’s heritage. The animal has long been dubbed the “ship of the desert”, being the lifeline for desert dwellers.
