Dubai: Mecca Police have arrested two expatriate workers for stealing one million Saudi riyals from the company they work for, local media reported.

The Sri Lankan suspects hid the stolen cash in a box in their residence in Jeddah. Police tracked them down and raided their residence where the full amount was confiscated. They admitted that they stole the money.

The suspects have been referred to public prosecution. They were remanded in police custody pending further investigation and trial.

Meanwhile, the Assir Police have arrested a group of young men for firing weapons and shooting randomly in a busy street in the town of Bisha in the south-western Saudi province.

The men appeared in a video that went viral on social media platforms. The footage shows the suspects while shooting firearms in the middle of the street, endangering others’ lives.
