Abu Dhabi: Saudi police have arrested three violators of residency laws after they allegedly attacked a taxi driver and robbed his money and mobile phone, police said.

Major Muhammad Al Ghamdi, spokesperson for Mecca police, said three Ethiopians in their 30s were arrested after a video clip was posted on social media showing the incident.

“Preliminary investigation showed the men committed a number of crimes, using the same modus operandi,” Major Al Ghamdi said.

He added all legal measures were taken against them and they were referred to the Public Prosecution, pending further questioning and trial.
