Saudi Arabia: Over 1 million COVID-19 shots administered
Jabs have been given at 405 inoculation centres across the kingdom
Cairo: Over 1 million doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 have been administered in Saudi Arabia since the onset of inoculation in December, the kingdom’s health authorities have said.
The jabs have been given at 405 inoculation sites across the country, the Health Ministry reported on its Twitter account.
The ministry urged people to register to receive the vaccine via the smartphone app Sehaty.
“To protect you and protect your community, register,” the ministry said.
Service expanded
On December 17, Saudi Arabia began its largest vaccination campaign against COVID-19 after receiving batches of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
The inoculation was initially conducted at four facilities in Riyadh, Jeddah, the Eastern Province and the Medina. Later, the service has been expanded across the kingdom.
Saudi authorities have said the vaccine is provided for free for citizens and foreign residents.
