Dubai: An autistic Syrian boy, who went missing two weeks ago in Mecca, was found dead in an abandoned apartment, local media reported.

The body of 12-year-old Abdul Rahman Yahiya Idilbi was found in an apartment only 500 metres away from his family’s home in Al Batha neighborhood of Mecca.

On Saturday, security authorities were informed by residents in the apartment building about a foul smell coming from the abandoned apartment. When the police entered the apartment, they found out that a strong bad smell was coming from a locked bathroom. They broke down the bathroom door where they found the body.

Police called the grieving father who identified his son’s body. The body was taken to hospital for forensic medical examination.
