Dubai: Saudi Arabia announced that international flights would resume as soon as a royal decision is taken by King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

Dr. Tawfiq Al Rabiah, Minister of Health, said the international flight service is subject to continuous evaluation in accordance with the developments on the coronavirus pandemic.

The minister made the remarks during a televised interview in reply to a question about the date of the resumption of international flights. He said that the authorities are concerned with the safety of everyone. “As long as there are still cases of coronavirus infection, precautionary measures should remain in place to ensure the safety of passengers,” Dr. Al Rabiah added.

The Kingdom has temporarily suspended international flights since March 15 as part of preventive measures to combat the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier this month, Saudi Arabian Airlines announced requirements for travel to 25 countries.

The national carrier also announced seven conditions for the transport of passengers returning to the Kingdom on board its flights once the Kingdom lifts travel restrictions. The airline called on passengers to follow health instructions based on the instructions issued by Saudi authorities.
