Saudi Arabia: Child inspires mum to set up ballet institute
Institute aims at disseminating ballet culture among children and adults in the area
Cairo: A four-year-old Saudi girl has inspired her culture-loving mother to set up an institute to teach ballet, as the country has experienced dramatic social changes and boosted women’s empowerment in recent years.
The founder told Saudi state television Al Ekhbariya that the institute, the first of its kind in the kingdom’s Eastern region, aims at disseminating the ballet culture among the children and adults in the area.
“My daughter was my inspiration in spreading this culture and sport that consolidates self-confidence through the movements that reflect what the performer feels inside,” she added.
“The ballet is a very refined art that was for ages practiced by notables,” she added.
Over the past few years, the kingdom has expanded its entertainment agenda as part of the Saudi Vision 2030, an ambitious scheme aimed to diversify the country’s economy.
Celebrated world musicians have performed at sell-out concerts in Saudi Arabia. The kingdom has also organised diverse art festivals and stage show.
