Saudi Arabia backs UAE’s candidacy for Security Council membership

UN representative affirms support of the kingdom



Saudi UN representative Dr. Khaled Manzalawi pointed out that the UAE always seeks to promote peace and spread a culture of tolerance, and saves no diplomatic efforts to settle disputes by peaceful means through dialogue and confidence-building.

Abu Dhabi: Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Dr. Khaled Manzalawi, affirmed the support of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the UAE in its candidacy for non-permanent membership of the Security Council for the period 2022-2023, and urged countries to support its candidacy.

“The UAE has succeeded in addressing the major issues closely related to international cooperation, peace, security and sustainable development and has clear humanitarian imprints, through its close cooperation with the United Nations and international partners to achieve the common goal of achieving lasting peace in the Middle East and the world at large,” Dr. Manzalawi said.

He pointed out that the UAE always seeks to promote peace and spread a culture of tolerance, and saves no diplomatic efforts to settle disputes by peaceful means through dialogue and confidence-building.

Dr. Manzlawi added that the UAE has always stressed its commitment to teamwork, adherence to the United Nations Charter, and strengthening of multilateral diplomacy.
