Cairo: Saudi police have arrested six Syrian expatriates suspected of involvement in a series of burglaries in Riyadh, a security official has said.

The suspects, in their 20s and 30s, had allegedly broken into offices of companies and light equipment stores in the city and stolen money and devices from them. They resold the stolen items after changing their features, spokesman for the Riyadh police Major Khalid Al Karidis added.

“In one of their crimes, they seized SR280,000, documents and contracts from one company,” he said.

Police have retrieved the booty after specifying their whereabouts, the official added without giving specific figures.

The six have been remanded to custody. Legal procedures have been taken against them before referral to public prosecution, the official said.
