COVID-19: Total curfew lifted in Saudi governorate
Cairo: Saudi authorities Monday lifted a total curfew imposed nearly a month ago in the governorate of Samtah as part of precautions against the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Ending the 24-hour curfew, imposed on April 17 in Samtah in the southern region of Jizan came on recommendations of health authorities, the Saudi news agency SPA quoted an official source at the Interior Ministry as saying.
The governorate's residents are now allowed to go outdoors to get their needs daily from 9 in the morning until 5 in the evening while complying with health precautions, the source added.
"These measures have been taken as part of the kingdom's efforts to protect public health and prevent the spread of the coronavirus. These measures are constantly assessed in coordination with health agencies," the source said.
In recent weeks, Saudi Arabia has eased strict restrictions earlier taken to stem the virus spread in some parts of the kingdom.
