Dubai: Saudi Arabia announced the detection of 2,331 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the total number of infected people in the Kingdom to 258,156.

Forty-four more people have died from complications caused by COVID-19, taking the fatality tally to 2,601, the Ministry of Health said during its daily press conference on Wednesday.

There has been an increase in the number of recoveries as 3,139 more people have made full recovery, pushing the total recovered cases to 210,398. The recovery rate has risen to 81.5 per cent in the Kingdom.

There are 45,157 active cases, including 2,143 critically ill patients under intensive care.

Hofuf registered the highest daily reported cases with 159, followed by Taif with 145 and Riyadh with 136.
