Abu Dhabi: The Saudi-led Arab coalition downed a booby-trapped drone heading towards Saudi Arabia flown by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.

Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki Al Malki said the aircraft was destroyed in Yemeni airspace.

Al Maliki explained that the terrorist Houthi militia continues to violate the Stockholm Agreement and violate the ceasefire in Hodeidah, and continues to take Hodeidah Governorate as a place for launching hostilities and terrorist operations by launching ballistic missiles and drones (UAVs), as well as explosive and remote-controlled booby-trapped boat attacks, which pose a real threat to regional and international security and undermines political efforts to make the (Stockholm) Agreement successful.

Al Maliki stressed that the leadership of the joint forces of the coalition continues to take and implement appropriate measures to deal with these hostile and terrorist acts in accordance with the international humanitarian law and its customary rules, while continuing to support the political efforts of the special envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Yemen to end the coup and reach a comprehensive political solution.

He hailed the high competency of the joint forces in confronting and deterring such threats by monitoring and destroying them directly after they are launched from Houthi-held regions.
