Qatar: Arabic, Islamic Education now mandatory at all private schools
Specialised staff to be hired to teach these subjects
Dubai: Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education has instructed private schools to list Arabic language, Islamic Education and Qatari history among as compulsory subjects, local media reported.
The new decision came based on the 2021 academic policy for teaching compulsory subjects in private schools and kindergartens.
This is the first time that schools are obliged to apply the teaching of Arabic language and Islamic education subjects from the kindergarten and pre-school stage, the Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported yesterday.
Circular sent to schools
A circular from the Private Schools Affairs Department at the ministry’s Private Education Affairs Sector has been sent to all such schools and kindergartens in this regard.
The three mandatory subjects should be allocated separate teaching hours within the school day, and each student should be provided with an original copy of the educational resources approved by the ministry.
Specialised staff to be hired to teach these subjects while constantly improving and updating their skills according to the outcome of the educational evaluation of students.
