Kuwait launches $100m relief campaign to reconstruct Gaza; Oman collects $1.5m
Dubai: Kuwait has launched an urgent relief campaign with a target of collecting $100 million to aid the Palestinians in war-torn Gaza, local media reported.
The one-month campaign also aims to help reconstruct Gaza with some people donating to build seven new towers in the first hour of launching the fundraising yesterday (Friday).
“The campaign is in line with Kuwait’s commitment to supporting the Palestinians and was launched upon under the directives of the Kuwaiti Cabinet,” said Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Social Affairs, Hana Al Hajri.
“Charities always organise donation campaigns throughout the year to support Palestine as permanent projects,” she added.
Oman
Meanwhile, in Oman, more than OMR 600,000 ($1.5 million ) have been collected to support Palestine and the reconstruction of Gaza after the recent Israeli occupation attack.
Since the beginning of the Israeli attack on Gaza, there have been calls to collect donations to help the Palestinians and rebuild Gaza.
Dar Al Atta Association launched a campaign for Palestine in cooperation with Oman Charitable Organisation and managed to collect OMR17,205 for Palestine.
Dar Al Attaa works in cooperation with the Omani Authority for Charitable Activities, which will ship medicines and medical supplies, and deliver them to the Sultanate’s embassy in Ramallah. From there the embassy will oversee the distribution of the medical aid.
Qatar
Qatar Charity (QC) has allocated $5 million to support the affected and displaced people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Jerusalem.
The aid comes as part of the relief campaign launched by Qatar Charity last week, in response to the tough humanitarian events currently unfolding in Palestine.
Egypt
Also last week, Egypt pledged 500 million dollars for the rebuilding of Gaza that suffered massive destruction due to an Israeli bombardment campaign.
Egypt has also sent an aid convoy of 130 trucks loaded with food and medical supplies to neighbouring Gaza, a presidential spokesman said.
