Dubai: The 26th Muscat International Book Fair has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth informed on Monday.

The announcement was made by HE Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

Last year, 946 publishing houses from 32 countries took part at the fair at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).

Earlier yesterday, Oman said it will reopen its borders (land, air and sea) on December 29 after temporarily closing for one-week in the wake of a fast spreading new strain of coronavirus.

The Supreme Committee also decided to make PCR test mandatory for passengers coming from all countries without any exception. The Committee also removed the quarantine period for those arriving in the country for less than seven days.

Last week the Supreme Committee issued a direction to close the country’s borders including airports and allowing only domestic and cargo operations.
