Cairo: Kuwaiti authorities will place special forces in shopping malls to boost security there, local media reported Thursday.

Interior Minister Thamer Ali has ordered the deployment of patrols from the special forces effective from Thursday evening in a step aimed at imposing order and law in shopping centres, Al Rai newspaper reported.

Al Anba newspaper, meanwhile, quoted a security source as saying that the Interior Ministry had informed officials in the two major malls, The Avenues and 360, that special force patrols will be positioned there to help boost security and prevent occasional problems.

“We’ll take the same step in other major complexes soon,” the source added.

There has been no immediate comment from the Interior Ministry.
