Kuwait: Emir’s health continues to improve

Cairo: Kuwait has said that the health of Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, currently on a medical trip in the US, is improving.

Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Sabah told an online cabinet meeting that the Emir’s health is “constantly improving,” the official news agency KUNA reported.

“The council of ministers has expressed its profound relief and prayed to God Almighty to preserve the blessing of health and well-being for His Highness [the emir],” Deputy prime Minister and Interior Minister Anis Al Saleh said in a briefing following the meeting.

Emir Sabah, 91, left Kuwait late last month for the US to complete medical treatment. Earlier in the month, he was admitted to a hospital in Kuwait where he had successful surgery due to an unspecified health problem.

A royal decree was issued tasking Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Sabah with some of the Emir’s powers.
