Kuwait City: Kuwait's 91-year-old Emir has been admitted to the hospital for a medical checkup, the nation's state-run news agency reported Saturday.

Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah was in "good health'' the KUNA news agency said. Kuwait's Speaker of Parliament Marzouq Al Ghanim reassured the public it was a routine check up and that the Emir is in good health

Sheikh Sabah has ruled Kuwait since January 2006. He's pushed for diplomacy to solve regional issues, such as the ongoing boycott of Qatar by four Arab nations, and hosted major donor conferences for war-torn nations like Iraq and Syria.
