Five housemaids arrested in Kuwait for stealing KD 11,000 from sponsor

They deny taking the money during police interrogation

Dubai: Five Asian housemaids have been arrested in Kuwait on charges of stealing money from their sponsor, Al Anba Newspaper reported.

The daily added the arrest came after the Kuwaiti sponsor filed a complaint with the police accusing them of stealing 11,000 dinars from the bedroom safe.

He told police the maids were fully aware that he kept money in the safe. However, during interrogation the maids denied stealing the money. Personnel from the forensics department have lifted fingerprints from the safe.

In another unrelated incident, personnel from the forensics department took fingerprints from the outhouse in Hawalli after an Egyptian complained that someone broke into his house and stole KD 1,430 which he had hidden under the mattress of his bed.
