First shipment of Pfizer vaccine arrives in Kuwait
Kuwait City: The first shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech arrived in Kuwait early Wednesday morning from Belgium via Emirates Airlines.
Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Dr. Basil Al Sabah, announced that the vaccination process will begin on Thursday.
He pointed out the first batch, which includes 150,000 doses that will be used to vaccinate 75,000 people, will be allocated for frontline workers and those above the age of 65.
The Mishref fairground has been prepared and organised to serve as the vaccination headquarters. Around 400 employees have been trained to administer the vaccine, operate as administrative staff and ensure everybody is adhering to the health and safety measures put in place by the Ministry of Health.
Since the ministry launched a website for those looking to pre-register for the vaccine, around 73,000 Kuwaitis and expats have signed up to take the vaccine.
