COVID-19: Kuwait reports 478 new cases, 3 deaths

Cairo: Kuwait has recorded 478 new cases of the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, taking the country's infection tally to 54,058, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA said Saturday, quoting a health official.

The latest tally showed a drop in the single-day infections against Friday when 740 cases were reported.

The latest cases are 310 Kuwaitis and 168 foreign residents, the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said.

Three more deaths from COVID-19 have brought the total such fatalities in Kuwait to 386, according to the official.

All the new cases were in contact with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection, Dr Al Sanad added in a daily update.

There are 150 patients receiving intensive care treatment, the official said.

Kuwait's total virus tests have reached 429,501 so far after 2,495 tests have been done over the past 24 hours, Dr Al Sanad said.

The Health Ministry announced that 747 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries from the disease to 43,961 in Kuwait.
