COVID-19: Kuwait registers 791 new infections, 3 deaths

Latest infection cases include 459 Kuwaitis, 332 foreigners

Abu Dhabi: Kuwait has reported 791 new infections of the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, taking the country's tally to 57,668, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported Thursday.

The latest cases comprise 459 Kuwaitis and 332 foreign residents, the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said.

Three more deaths from COVID-19 have brought the total such fatalities in Kuwait to 402, according to the official.

All the new cases were in touch with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection and those who were in contact, Dr Al Sanad added.

There are 142 patients receiving intensive care treatment, the official said in a media update.

Kuwait's total virus tests have reached 449,525 so far after 4,341 tests have been done over the past 24 hours, Dr Al Sanad said.

Earlier, the Health Ministry said 648 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, bringing to 47,545 the total number of recoveries from the disease in Kuwait.
