COVID-19: Kuwait records 614 new cases, 3 deaths

Latest cases take infection tally to 55,508, fatalities to 393

Cairo: Kuwait has recorded 614 new cases of the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, showing a downward trend taking the country's infection tally to 55,508, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported Monday. Kuwait confirmed 836 such cases the day before.

The cases reported on Monday are 378 Kuwaitis and 236 foreign residents, according to the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad.

Three new deaths from COVID-19 have brought the total such fatalities in Kuwait to 393, according to the official.

All the new cases were in touch with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection, Dr Al Sanad added.

There are 148 patients receiving intensive care treatment, the official said.

Kuwait's total virus tests have reached 437,422 so far after 4,086 tests have been done over the past 24 hours, Dr Al Sanad said.

The Health Ministry said that 746 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries from the disease to 45,356 in Kuwait.
