Kuwait City: The second batch of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine arrived in Kuwait on Saturday, Al Anba reported.

The vaccine was transported immediately to the vaccination center at the Al Mishref Fairground, where it is being stored in refrigerators.

An informed source told Al Anba that the quantity of the second batch is enough to vaccinate as many people as possible, citizens and expats, until the third batch arrives.

The first batch, which included 150,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, arrived in Kuwait on December 23.

So far priority has been given to frontline workers, health care workers, those above the age of 65 and people that suffer from chronic illnesses.

With that being said, the Ministry of Health has opened the pre-registration to anybody wishing to take the vaccine. A website was created to allow those wanting to take the vaccine to pre-register so that the government can indicate who should be given priority, a person’s medical history and have an estimate of how many doses they should order.

Mobile vaccine units

In conjunction with the arrival of the new batch, a well informed health source told Al Jardia that the Ministry of Health will be launching mobile units to vaccinate people who are unable to leave their homes due to severe health conditions.

That the mobile vaccination units will be targeted at those who are bedridden, people with special needs and anybody that has a severe illness that prevents them from travelling to the vaccination headquarters at Al Mishref fairground.
