COVID-19: First doctor in Bahrain dies from coronavirus
Dr Kumar had been working in intensive care unit of the Military Hospital for over a month
Abu Dhabi: Solomon Vinay Kumar, a primary care physician and a member of the frontline team to fight COVID-19, has become the first doctor in Bahrain to succumb to the virus, the American Mission Hospital in Bahrain said Monday.
Kumar, who had joined the American Mission 14 years ago, was fighting the coronavirus in the intensive care unit of the Military Hospital over the past four weeks.
He left behind more than 600 employees of the American Mission Hospital who grieved for his parting alongside his family members, the hospital said.
Dr. George Sherian, CEO of the American Mission Hospital, expressed his sincere condolences to the family of Doctor Kumar and to all health care workers who had taken care of him in the ICU of the military hospital.
Dr. Kumar is not the first doctor to be lost by the American Mission Hospital due to the outbreak of an epidemic in Bahrain over the past 120 years, as Dr. Marion Wells Toms died of cholera alongside her two children in 1904, to be the first doctor to die in the country because of the disease. On the grave of her grave, “the nucleus of wheat does not fall to the ground and die, but it bears much fruit.”
