Claiming husband is in sexual relationship with maid, woman in Bahrain seeks divorce
Also says husband was married to several other women, failed to live up to his obligation
Dubai: A woman in Bahrain has asked for divorce after learning about her husband’s illegal affair with the housemaid, local media reported.
The woman lodged a divorce case, citing her husband’s failure to meet her basic needs along with having an extra-marital affair with their housemaid.
Two courts have already rejected the case and the woman insisted to escalate it to the Bahraini Cassation Court, which overruled the sentences of the two courts.
She claimed that her husband was married to several other women, and he failed to live up to his obligation to provide her with a place to live.
According to court files, the woman has five children, and her frustration hit rock bottom after he had a sexual affair with her maid. However, two courts rejected her divorce demand.
The Cassation Court gave her a lifeline after sending her case back to the appeals court to re-review the case. “My client’s desire to desert him is well-known and she won’t take a step back,” the defendant’s lawyer Ebtisam Al Sabagh said. “We are happy with the Cassation Court’s decision and we hope a different outcome from the appeals court.”
