Dubai: Bahraini authoritiesannounced that legal actions will be taken against five health institutions and doctors for offering unlicensed cosmetic services, according to local Bahraini media.

The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) said the doctors were performing procedures like “botox” and “dermal fillers” without being specialist in the field or hold permissions from the authority.

Violators will be reffered to public prosecution and to the authority of accountability for further action.

According to the Supreme Council of Health, only plastic surgeons, dermatologists, otolaryngologists are allowed to perform services like fillers and Botox. When it comes to oral procedures, it should come through a dentist. Violating clinics will face strict actions, warned the authority.

The authority also advised service providers to take necessary approvals from the authority before carrying out such procedures. Written approvals from the authority are required for doctors to offer any cosmetic procedures in the kingdom.
