Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday honoured a head constable of the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) for setting an example for the police force by continuing to perform duties despite his fractured arm.

Khan took notice of a footage and a picture of Qaiser Shakeel that went viral on social media.

In the footage, Qaiser Shakeel could be seen managing the traffic flow with his left arm while his right arm tied to a sling.

People, including social media users, heaped praise on Qaiser Shakeel for his dedication and commitment.

Imran Khan called him to the Prime Minister’s office and encouraged him with his words of appreciation and a cash prize.

“I am glad to see you doing a commendable job and people were praising you as well on social media. When one man stands up for the public, it gives a huge boost to the image of police force,” said the prime minister while giving him a cash prize.

Qaiser Shakeel was performing his duties on June 9 when a motorbike ran into him.

He was injured and shifted to the hospital but he returned to work after two days of rest.

“I could have spent a few more days but I thought it’s better to return as I could manage it,” said Qaiser in his video message.

On the PM’s official twitter handle, Khan commended his dutifulness, professionalism and dedication. Qaiser Shakeel has set an example for othe government officials, he said.
