Use legal banking channels to remit money, Pakistan Ambassador appeals to community on the National Day
Dubai: Pakistan Ambassador to UAE Faisal Niaz Trimizi has appealed to the Pakistani community to use legal banking channels to send their remittances to their country.
Speaking at the Pakistan Day celebrations held at the Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, Ambassador Trimizi said the community can contribute to the national economy by sending remittance through legal banking channels. Pakistan is currently facing acute financial crunch and is in desparete need of foreign remittances.
He also requested Pakistani community to promote tourism and investment opportunities in Pakistan among the Emiratis and residents of the UAE and take them to Pakistan to show its rich cultural diversity, amazing natural beauty, delicious cuisine and the warm hospitality.
Pakistan Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi hoisted the flag at a ceremony which was attended by large number of community members at the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were also read out while pupils from Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Arab Pakistan School presented national tableaus on national songs.
Ambassador Tirmizi, highlighted the significance of the National Day as it had laid down the foundation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent. Ambassador Tirmizi also referred to the great sacrifices made by our forefathers under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for the creation of Pakistan.
Every year Pakistan Day is celebrated on March 23 to commemorate the adoption of the Pakistan Resolution also called Lahore Resolution by the All India Muslim League on March 23, 1940 in Lahore, which demanded a separate homeland for Muslims in South Asia.
The Ambassador also expressed satisfaction on the upward trajectory of Pakistan-UAE relations and thanked the Government of the UAE and its leadership to be a steadfast friend of Pakistan. He underscored deep historic relations between the two countries whose foundation was laid by Late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founding President of the UAE.
Meanwhile, a flag hoisting ceremony was also held at the Pakistan Consulate General in Dubai to mark the 83rd Pakistan Day. Hassan Afzal Khan, Consul General of Pakistan raised the flag. The Consul General extended warm felicitations to the Pakistani community residing in the UAE.
Commending the role and contribution of overseas Pakistanis in prosperity and progress of Pakistan, Consul General Khan said that the expatriate community is not only sending precious remittances back home, but are also contributing immensely to the development of their host country. The presence of 1.6 million Pakistanis living in the UAE is a manifestation of the people oriented relationship between the two countries. He urged the Pakistani community in the UAE to continue to work with the same commitment and hard work.
A photographic exhibition showcasing rare photographs of Pakistan movement was also arranged on the sidelines of the event. The ceremony was concluded with prayers for progress and prosperity of the country. Earlier, the Consulate General of Pakistan also hosted a National Day Reception for diplomats, government offices and Pakistani diaspora on March 20. The highlights of the event were the performance of Dubai police band to the beats of Pakistan and UAE National Anthems and national songs of Pakistan along with delicious Pakistani cuisine.
